You might be asking, what is an Urban Farmer? Well the definition is as varied as the characters who hang this label on themselves.
If you live near/in a city, community, village, or neighborhood and have the desire to grow your own produce, you’re on your way to becoming an urban farmer. The urban farmers I have met come from all walks of life and income levels. One thing we all have in common is this weird drive to connect in some way to the soil and the plants that spring from it. I myself find a peace in life while working and watching my gardens grow I can’t find in my work life. I would love to one day grow enough produce to eliminate my time at the local Kroger, but I’m not there yet.
Now this might surprise some people but not all my neighbors share my passion. In my search other Urban Farmers and for resources for to aid my goal, I have found some great portals that help connect me with like minded people.

Greensgrow is THE nationally recognized leader in urban farming and is open to the public from early spring through Christmas. A small but dedicated staff runs a multifaceted operation, including a nursery, a farm market, and a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, proving that abandoned land is only abandoned if we choose to leave it that way. (CSA traditionally stands for Community Supported Agriculture)
